Matrix is a framework to develop workflow oriented applications.
The Vision
To make paperless, free workflow environment accessible for everyone.

The Goal
To come up with a workflow based application development framework

Broken Down........
  • To come up with a J2EE compliant java and XML based workflow engine, which will work as the heart of the system.
  • To come up with a time keeping engine to make the escalation, forwarding processes totally independent of the development of the actions/functionalities.
  • To come up with a status-action oriented environment where the end user will only be concerned about the actions that should happen when the status of any monitored variable changes.
  • To come up with a customizable workflow editor which will give the end user define his own workflow without being dependant on how the system has been set up
  • To have maximum scalability in terms of functionality i.e. a new functionality addition will ask for zero change in the existing modules.
  • To provide an access control engine to restrict access in a workflow based environment, which will help developers to keep all access controls issues separate from the module developments.

    Why the name "Matrix" ??
The basic CONCEPT behind the framework is to have self-contained XML workflow components. These XML components will be driven by a Matrix, which will take care of the flow and the monitoring issues. The Matrix will behave as the control-card of the applications. I am trying to make the architecture document come up on the site as soon as possible.
